It was very interesting to work together from the very beginning; the client, the branding team, the architects and us defined the identity and personality of the restaurant. The concept behind Midam (which in Korean means “a beautiful story”) is that the space reflects the personality of two cultures and the history of their origin – Korea & Mexico. The owner is a young businessman born in Korea who came with his family to live in Mexico since childhood. Dany’s family operates a successful Korean barbecue restaurant in the Zona Rosa neighborhood but Dany wanted to create a new concept.
For Midam we seek to create an informal, fresh and relaxed atmosphere. We played with colors, shapes and lighting to achieve it. We installed graphic neon lights on the walls making reference to the Korean streets covered in luminous signs. We integrated a tree in the covered terrace to create an outdoor / indoor environment. For the tables we made a pedestal that houses a gas and charcoal grill that customers cook their food on.

The architectural work was in charge of D + P Architects while the interior design, furniture design and finishes was in charge of Comité de Proyectos.
